Preparing to push is about more than learning how to bear down. It is
about understanding your pelvic floor, learning to work with your
body, and feeling prepared for the many ways birth can unfold.
Join Sarah Coombs, pelvic floor therapist, and Erin Ronder Neves,
birth doula, for a 90-minute interactive workshop combining pelvic
floor education with real-world birth experience. Sarah brings her
expertise in pelvic floor health, while Erin brings the perspective of
a doula who is physically in the room supporting births every week
across different hospitals, positions, pain preferences, and birth
experiences.
Together, we’ll explore:
Strategies to relax and prepare your pelvic floor for birth
Different approaches to pushing and how to work with your body
rather than one “right” way to push
Movement, positioning, and breathwork for labor and birth
How pushing may look different with an epidural, without
medication, in different positions, and in different birth settings
Perineal massage and other ways to prepare for birth
This workshop is about preparation, not prescription. There is no
single position, pushing technique, or birth experience that works for
everyone. Our goal is to give you evidence-based tools, practical
strategies, and a real-world understanding of your options so you can
adapt and feel confident as your birth unfolds.
We love having partners involved in the birth process, but we specifically tailor this workshop for only the pregnant parent to participate in order to provide a sacred space for mama and baby to connect. If you are interested in a partner support class we highly recommend our Spinning Babies Baby Positioning & Comfort Measure Class.
By taking this class, you get 10% off a one-on-one personal pelvic floor consult with Rooted Pelvic Health & Wellness.
We recommend this for anyone 30 weeks pregnant and up.
This class is only for the birthing person. If you are interested in a partner support class, please check out our Spinning Babies Baby Positioning & Comfort Measures Class for the full partner toolbox.
Always available to community and MassHealth members. We also accept FSA/HSA.
Email us with questions. We look forward to helping you!
