During pregnancy, we work closely with you and your partner to help you stay informed, comfortable, and confident as you prepare for birth. Because it’s your body, your baby, and your birth, our doula support begins long before labor and is designed to keep you informed, supported, and grounded every step of the way.
Two prenatal meetings give dedicated time to explore your birth vision, create a personalized labor support plan, and address any questions, fears, or concerns along the way.
During these visits we may cover:
• Your birth preferences, goals, fears, and concerns
• Basic childbirth education and what to expect in labor
• Comfort techniques and managing labor pain
• Evidence based information on common medical procedures
• Your options during labor and after birth
• Postpartum planning and support expectations
• Any other topics that are important to you
You will also have 24/7 phone, text, and email support throughout your pregnancy, ensuring you always have guidance, reassurance, and access to trusted resources when you need it.
Beginning at 38 weeks, we are on call and ready to join you when labor begins. We provide continuous in person support for you and your partner from active labor until 1 to 2 hours after your baby is born.
Our role is to help you stay present, supported, and empowered as you move through labor and the birth of your baby.
Support during labor may include:
• Emotional encouragement and steady support throughout labor
• Comfort techniques such as massage, positioning, and movement
• Guidance with labor positions that encourage optimal fetal positioning
• Helping you understand your options and ask informed questions
• Ensuring your voice, preferences, and labor support plan are respected
• Supporting your partner so they feel confident and involved
We are committed to staying within our scope of practice while working collaboratively with your nurses and medical providers as part of your care team. We also guarantee back up doula support in the unlikely event your doula is unavailable.
Saltwater Doulas proudly supports families planning hospital births, birth center births, home births, epidurals, unmedicated births, cesareans, and VBACs.
Once your baby is born, we support the golden hour by protecting skin to skin time and using our lactation experience to help initiate your preferred feeding method.
One postpartum visit is included in your birth doula support package.
During your postpartum follow up visit, we provide guidance and reassurance as you adjust to life with your newborn. Our goal is to help ensure your home environment supports rest, healing, and confidence during the early weeks.
This visit may include:
• Processing and reflecting on your birth experience
• Breast or bottle feeding support
• Guidance on newborn care and understanding your baby’s cues
• Information on postpartum healing and recovery
• Support with the transition to life at home with your baby
• Trusted referrals and resources when needed
You will also have ongoing phone, text, and email support for two weeks after birth to help answer questions and provide additional guidance.
We want investing in a birth doula to work for your family! All of the following can be combined to build a package that is just right for you and your needs.

Not sure where to start? Our visual journey map can guide you through each trimester and postpartum phase with classes, groups, and services mapped to your timeline.
In the very first month, your body is already working hard, even before you see that positive test. Fatigue, emotional swings, and subtle symptoms are all part of these early days.
Though the world can’t see it, your body is changing rapidly. Nausea, fatigue, and food aversions are common as your baby begins to grow.
Your emotions may feel unpredictable, as joy, worry, excitement, and fear often overlap. These feelings are normal and valid.
Your belly starts to show, and your energy may begin to rebound. With these changes come new questions about your body and your baby.
Registry planning, baby names, and nursery ideas might feel exciting or overwhelming. Remember: this is your journey—do it your way.
You may look calm and glowing on the outside, but inside, you might be processing fears or pressures. That’s okay, space for both is allowed.
As the third trimester begins, your body feels heavier and sleep may get tricky. It’s okay to lean on others and ask for help.
Hospital bags, birth plans, and visitor lists grow, alongside worries about labor. You don’t have to carry it all yourself.
Every twinge makes you wonder if it’s time. Protect your peace and trust your body’s timing.
Healing takes time. Pain management, bleeding, and latch issues are common. Lean on your support network and ask questions.
You’re finding your rhythm. Feeding routines and return‑to‑work plans take shape.
Your baby is growing fast, and so are you as a parent. From first foods to CPR, these months bring milestones and new joys.

Thinking about hiring a doula, but not sure what to expect? You’re not alone. Here are answers to some of the most common questions from new and expecting parents.
A doula is a trained professional who provides physical, emotional, and informational support during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. Unlike a medical provider, a doula’s role is non-clinical. They’re there to advocate for you, comfort you, and help you feel informed and supported through every step.

Doula services can include prenatal visits, continuous labor support, partner guidance, postpartum check-ins, feeding help, newborn care education, emotional support, and referrals to trusted resources. Our packages can be customized to fit your birth and postpartum goals.
A doula is not a nurse or medical provider. While some doulas may have backgrounds in healthcare, their primary role is non-medical. A doula works alongside your provider team to support you emotionally and physically without performing clinical tasks like cervical checks or fetal monitoring.
A birth doula supports you during pregnancy and labor, helping with comfort measures, breathing, movement, and decision-making. A postpartum doula helps you at home after birth, offering newborn care support, feeding guidance, emotional check-ins, and help with rest and recovery.
